A Silver Nugget restaurant in has reopened 24-hours after being closed for bed bugs. Should we all be more cautious when dining out.
Health Officials have re-inspected and let the venue re-open. They sent News 3 the following statement:
The Health District re-inspected the facility at the Silver Nugget yesterday and allowed it to reopen. As part of the re-inspection, the Health District has advised the restaurant that an integrated pest management plan is required. The Health District is working with the facility to develop such a plan, which will include bed bugs."
President of the area’s Pest Management Association said these pests can stick around.
Is it possible to get rid of them in 24 hours? Yes, it's unlikely that you are going to, though.
Treatment for bed bugs usually take more than one application to complete treatment. A professional pest company would need to do the first round of treatment then wait a gestational period of 21 days before a thorough re-inspection and possible another re-application to be completely safe.
Adult bed bugs look similar to ticks, but smaller eggs could be in the aging process.
You can see the eggs, they lay them in clubs or packs.
While this particular restaurant has been given the go-ahead to re-open by health officials, Do your own research when it comes to restaurants or hotel that may have had a bed bug issue.
Do your own inspection, whatever venue it is, don't trust them to do it, look at your own bed.
