A family visiting Phoenix for Spring Break said they cut their visit short after finding bed bugs at their hotel.
“It just disgusted us so bad,” said Quincy Starr, whose children were in the hotel beds for several hours before he discovered bed bugs.
Starr and his family immediately left the hotel. The family was so worried that they went to a hospital emergency room the next morning.
Hospital paperwork listed the diagnosis as “infestation by bed bugs.”
The bugs in the room is an isolated incident, said the operations manager at the hotel.
A copy of the hotel’s pest control bill was also sent to ABC15. It showed that the hotel is treated twice monthly. This particular room will be treated with chemicals this weekend.
After two weeks, bed bug-sniffing dogs will inspect the room, and only if it is clear will it be re-rented.
