GOSHEN - For the first time in several years, the Goshen Animal Control Officer will be hitting the streets soon in an official vehicle equipped for handling animals. Kyle Meservey, who was appointed full time Animal Control Officer for the town in August, will be able to do inspections, respond to complaints and transport animals in a 2003 Chevrolet van donated by Selectman John D. Stellberger's pest control company, Environmental Health Services, Inc., based in Norwood, MA.
The van is already equipped to hold and transport animals because it was previously used in the wildlife management division of Environmental Health Services, Inc.
"We decided to retire this vehicle after six years of use and donating it to assist on animal inspections and complaints made perfect sense," Stellberger said. The Selectmen decided to accept the donation at their meeting on Sept. 28.
