We got the call to investigate squirrels inside a residential house. The squirrels were definitely in the structural voids as the homeowner heard them. I arrived at the home to do a full inspection & realized that we had been at this house several years earlier for a squirrel issue. The attached picture needs some explaining so you can visualize the situation. A few years back squirrels were chewing through the crawl space under the sun room addition to the house. The customer put up foam insulation panels on the underside of the addition to help keep the room warm. We totally encapsulated-excluded the entire crawl space using stainless steel mesh screening. At the time it 100% excluded not just squirrels but any other nuisance wildlife that may try to make the area a home.
The picture shows you how the squirrels chewed through the addition floor & styrofoam but could not escape from the stainless steel mesh. In this case the squirrels were now inside & could not leave. Turns out the squirrels chewed a hole in the gutter & traveled down to the addition to try & escape. We excluded the squirrels from the gutter area & solved the problem again. It goes to show you how challenging squirrels are and how your home can always be attractive to them.
