EHS can Solve any Pest Situation - Watertown, MA

20 May 2013

We were called by a long time commercial client to rat and mouse proof an area leading into a basement crawl space that had been active with rodents. EHS has been providing Exclusion and Pest Proofing for almost 30 years. We set the standard for non chemical removal and exclusion.

A local cat was already playing cat and mouse (or Rat) with the inhabitants. He was a bit unhappy to loose a prime hunting spot, but since so many rodents inhabit most neighborhoods, we think this feline can remain pretty busy stalking outside of our clients building. Problem solved. We like helping people promptly and it shows.

Organic Tick Treatment - Carlisle, MA

15 May 2013

An EHS service specialist on Organic Tick duty for our clients snapped this photo of a Bobcat late last spring in a field in Carlisle. It seemed like it was stalking something by its slow and deliberate walking posture. These secretive native cats are seldom seen and more often heard. Most of us will live our entire life without witnessing one of these magnificent felines. EHS values native wildlife and remove and exclude without euthanization.

Jumping Spider - Norwood, MA

13 May 2013

While waiting for an appointment outside our graphic artist's office I noticed this 1/4" long arachnid on a hunting mission. Most people don't know about this fascinating creature, The Jumping Spider. Pound for pound, milligram for milligram THE MOST FEROCIOUS PREDATOR ON PLANET EARTH! Even more that a Great White Shark! These daytime hunters use objects to gain advantage while stalking, much like say a leopard might. They live flies and can capture them from behind before they know to fly! EHS loves Jumping Spider and after reading this tidbit, we think you may too!

Mice Control - Brookline, MA

13 May 2013

Posted by Joseph Coupal

EHS received this cute photograph from a Brookline client. Apparently this native and very skilled climber, the White-Footed Mouse slipped under a loose bird feeder cap to feast on fresh bird seed. The metal cap slipped shut trapping the hapless mouse. Luckily, condensation provided water and Niger Seed a food source for the several days it was thought to have been inside. The homeowner set the feeder on the ground, opened the cap and was surprised to see how chubby it had become! She also commented that it seemed a little stiff from a lack of exercise. At EHS, our clients love to share great stories with us. We like our clients and it shows.

EHS can Solve any Pest Situation - Westwood, MA

A utility substation in a wooded area adjacent to conservation area had a substantial native snake population.

Garter Snakes (mistakenly called Garden Snakes) Eastern Ribbon Snakes and even the large and speedy Black Racer were seen around the perimeters making service personnel somewhat skittish. We evicted them before the breeding season, excluded the areas and used a non toxic, botanical repellant to dissuade any loitering reptiles from hanging around the old neighborhood. Problem solved!

The snakes are free to live their life, employees are free to move about the area and EHS is happy to have a happy client. EHS thinks outside of the box to help you and it shows.

EHS can Solve any Pest Situation - North End, Boston

08 May 2013

EHS service specialists were excluding a clients building by cementing openings and screening vents and a mulch bed for mice and rats in Boston's old and famous North End we came across a famous wild all American bird, the Wild Turkey! It's fitting that she was walking the historic Freedom Trail, Benjamin Franklin lobbied unsuccessfully to have this wise and versatile foul to be America's symbol.

It after all, sustained the easily settlers and native Americans in both wild and domesticated forms for centuries. She seemed content to strut among curious passers by near Boston's Paul Revere historical home, she joins our staff at EHS as proud Americans! We like native animals and it shows.

We arrived at a long standing and frantic client's home 45 minutes after she placed the emergency call of a nest of rats in her backyard lawn. We removed the thin layer of grass covering the shallow impression and were pleased that she did not have rats after all! We discovered six of the cutest baby bunnies you could imagine.

These Eastern Cottontail rabbit kits were very healthy. We follow the rule to leave wild animals alone. The homeowner has seen rabbits occasionally over the past three years and will keep an eye in this young family and report back to us on their progress. At EHS, we like to help people (and bunnies) and it shows!

Termites Behind Your Walls?

17 Apr 2013

Posted by Joseph Coupal

Are you Superman? Superwoman? You mean to tell me you do not possess the awesome ability of X-Ray vision???!!!

Don’t worry, we at EHS don’t either. However we do have super-power skills at detecting termites BEFORE they cost you thousands of dollars in wood damage repair! Termites by their own nature are so extremely secretive and avoid detection easily. You must be a very trained inspector to even be able to detect them and that is where EHS comes in, we are the best in the business. Unfortunately when homeowners wait until they see termites it is not too late but certainly more costly (see attached image). Protect your biggest investment (your home and/or business) and call EHS for a termite inspection.
