Native Woodpeckers Can Wreak Havoc on Your Home!

12 Mar 2012

Posted by Joseph Coupal

Every Spring our native woodpeckers begin their courtship song. Unfortunately, this song involves rapid pecking or drumming against wood or other resonating objects. This may include your home.

To conform with the Federal Migratory Bird Act, harassing or discouraging these birds is all that can be done to keep them off your home.

EHS has developed a method non-harming repellant to keep them off for the season.

Urban Bird Control

What you see here is just a real bad installation of bird "spikes" in a commercial parking garage. The maintenance department of this company spent thousands of dollars on product alone trying to exclude birds in their parking garage on to fail miserably. It also looks horrible! They spent thousands of dollars more in labor to install the failed products and countless hours in labor for routine cleaning. This put workers at risk for disease from the pigeon droppings and their liability was through the roof!

Most people think an owl or “spike” will solve all bird issues but that is never the case. You must always determine the bird pressure and observe their behavior. This is looking at a problem holistically (entire or big picture) in order to provide a successful bird proofing service. EHS solved this issue permanently and it is a reason why we are considered an industry leader at urban bird control.

A picture is worth a thousand words so here are 2,000 words! As you can see when it comes to urban bird control, there is no job that EHS can not handle! The problem with pest birds is that people think they can solve the problem on their own by putting out a plastic owl, bird gel, or bird spikes. It always fails and then they call for professional help.

What people do not realize is that bird droppings may have as much as 25 diseases associated with them! Pest birds can put your business at risk (damage, liability, public image, etc.), EHS will protect your investment with professional bird control.

Insects and Rodents Infest Food Warehouse

Warehouse Must Deal with Insect and Rodent Infestation

A New Hope, MN food warehouse was infested with rodents, insects and birds in July, according to a warning letter issued this month by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The FDA ordered the company, New Wha Ming Trading of MN, Inc. to correct violations within 15 days or explain why it needs more time.

During five visits in July, inspectors noticed live and dead rodents, including several in traps; droppings in 17 locations on food and elsewhere; nesting material and gnawed containers.

Bags of food were stained with urine. There were bird droppings on cans of condensed milk. Insects were found on bags and on a dead rodent.

Owner Weizhen Lin said Wednesday he had not received the FDA letter but the company is "working on the issues."

Before and After Bird Job

28 Jan 2011

Take a look at the amazing quality of work we do for birds. These ledges on a building 3-6 stories high have had pigeons infesting them for over a decade. Look at the accumulation of bird poop plus staining of the concrete. The acid in the droppings will destroy just about anything over time. They even made attempts to solve the issue on their own as you can see the chicken wire did not work.

We installed a ledge deterrent system plus fabricated our own and even painted some black to match the building. The product is installed at a 45 degree slope so birds literally slide off when they try to land. It is invisible & permanent and we solved a decade plus bird issue. The client raved about the results because it worked, looked great, and saved them countless resources as they no longer had to dedicate labor to routine cleaning of the droppings. Thought you would enjoy seeing the banner we put up when we are humanely removing pest birds from buildings. We typically put this banner up on the boom or scissor lift. No matter what the job entails for pest birds we have a humane solution. The icing on the cake is that the birds are permanently excluded and people wonder “where did the birds go?” because the products are virtually invisible.
