Got Bed Bugs? Maybe About 99% of the time people are dealing with the common bed bug (Cimex lectularius) but you always want to get 100% positive identification of the insect Vs just assuming what it is. In residential settings more so than commercial there is a chance that what may seem like a bed bug issue is actually a Bat Bug (Cimex adjunctus) issue. We recently dealt with a homeowner in Rhode Island that spent $1,900.00 on bed bug services from another pest control company and called us because it’s been 10 months later and they are still seeing bugs. In the phone conversation we immediately knew something was suspect based on the bug activity and where they were seeing evidence. We scheduled an inspector to perform a free inspection and consultation and he collected samples that were later examined in our laboratory by our on-staff entomologist.
EHS then provided a treatment for bat bugs to attic areas and structural voids then performed a total roofline exclusion for bats that was totally humane as we are a Live & Let Live company when it comes to native wildlife species. Problem solved and a very happy customer with just one regret….they wished their first call was to EHS.
