With the almost 60 degree weather today you just might observe some rodent activity beneath the ice layer.
Our industrious rodents have been at work, Meadow Voles. Our Technical Director, Justin Hedlund, BCE educated me on these furry native rodents. They are the true field mice! Making their shallow tunnels while feeding on many things, including grasses, sedges, seeds, flowers, leaves, roots of shrubs and small trees, bark, tubers, bulbs, and sometimes insects.
EHS has had success using non-lethal, non-chemical methods of excluding these native rodents.
